Block Space connects you with people nearby for real, in-person work. A few simple habits keep hiring — and getting hired — safe for everyone.
Most jobs here happen face to face. Meet on your terms.
For a first meeting, pick a busy public place and chat by phone or message before anyone visits a home.
Bring a friend, or make sure someone else is home with you for in-person jobs. There's safety in numbers.
Let a friend or family member know who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be done.
Keep payments simple, fair and reversible.
Confirm the full price and exactly what's included before any work starts — no surprises later.
Avoid large deposits before work begins. Pay on completion, or in small agreed stages.
Be wary of anyone who only takes wire transfers, gift cards or crypto — those can't be reversed.
If someone "accidentally" overpays and asks you to send the difference back, it's a scam. Walk away.
If you notice any of these, slow down and verify.
Pay or prices well above the going rate are bait. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
Pressure to move to another app and "sort it out fast" is a classic way to avoid scrutiny.
Requests for a deposit, "verification" payment or fee before you've done anything are a red flag.
No legitimate client needs your bank login, ID number or one-time security codes.
Refusing to meet, call or video chat before money changes hands is a warning sign.
Missing details, shifting stories and constant excuses usually mean something's off.
